A lively discussion is the characteristic of the 3rd Stakeholder event of LIFE BRINE-MINING, held at the GIG institute premises in Katowice, Poland. The meeting was attended by over 50 representatives from mining companies, ministries, and project beneficiaries.
Dr. Grzegorz Gzyl addressed environmental issues associated with the coal mining process that the LIFE BRINE MINING system tackles, during his presentation at the 3rd Stakeholder event held at the GIG premises in Katowice, Poland. “The salinity persists after the cease of operation of coal mines. LIFE BRINE MINING tackles the environmental issues associated to coal mining in a circular economy context as through the process clear water, minerals and water is produced and water salinity is eliminated.”, he noted.
Professor Loizidou addressed the merits and challenges associated with the full-scale implementation of the LIFE BRINE MINING system.
Dr. Krzysztof Mitko, Assistant Professor and representative of the beneficiary, Silesian University of Technology, showcased the precipitation technique employed in the LIFE BRINE-MINING system
Dr. Maria Kyriazi from National Technical University of Athens presented the performance of the LIFE BRINE MINING System units. Additionally, Prof. Maria Loizidou presented the technical characteristics of the innovative Crystallizer unit utilized in the LIFE BRINE MINING demo site in Katowice, Poland.
Dionysia Diamantidou, the representative of the beneficiary LENNTECH, presented the techniques of Ultrafiltration, Nanofiltration, Electrodialysis, and Reverse Osmosis employed in the LIFE BRINE-MINING system.
Kalliroi Pantelaki, representing the project beneficiary SEALEAU, shared insights about the stakeholder meeting events that have been undertaken and how they have contributed to the interaction and successful implementation of the LIFE BRINE MINING project.
Dr. Grzegorz Gzyl, in his closing remarks at the 3rd Stakeholder event, emphasized the significance of the LIFE BRINE MINING project in addressing wastewater issues stemming from coal mine operations.
